 These symptoms typically begin to appear in a person’s mid 60s. While some warning signs may seem like typical age related changes, it is important to contact a doctor when any of these symptoms may arise. While dementia is a chronic disease that has no cure, early detection allows more treatment to provide relief and maintain one’s independence for a longer amount of time.

 Dementia is a condition that requires a medical diagnosis. A medical diagnosis can include a doctor looking at medical history, providing a physical examination, and performing laboratory tests, cognitive testing, brain imaging, and a psychiatric assessment.
