Brain Activity Encouragement

For those who struggle with memory loss due to Alzheimer's and Dementia, it is important that they keep their brains active. Brain health activities are implemented on a daily basis to challenge our residents to use their brains, which has been proven to improve their quality of life, as well as help slow the progression of these memory loss diseases. At Aiken Memory Care, we strive to create a customized and diverse set of cognitive activities to promote participation among all of our residents. Here are a few examples:

Exercise - Anything as simple as taking a short walk or tossing around a beach ball in a circle with others can help increase blood flow to encourage the growth of new brain cells.

Puzzles - When residents participate in building a puzzle, they can bring stimulation to memory association while using their hands and challenging their brains.

Music - Making and listening to music is a great way to stimulate memory in individuals with memory loss. Residents are challenged to remember the lyrics and beats of the music.

As a community, we always encourage participation during our daily activities. These brain health activities are implemented to encourage our residents to engage with others, stimulate their brains, and encourage memories.
