Look for Signs During the Holidays

As the holiday season approaches, we tend to spend more time with our friends and families - especially our parents and grandparents. As our loved ones reach the age of 65 and older, they are more likely to develop Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia. Memory loss develops at different rates in each individual, so it is important to be on the lookout for signs and symptoms that may point to it.

Signs of dementia include the following:

  • Memory loss

  • Difficulty with concentration

  • Difficulty with everyday tasks

  • Confusion with place and time

  • Changes in mood including depression, anxiety, and agitation

  • Difficulty communicating

  • And more!

Pay attention to your older loved ones this holiday season to see if they require additional care. While there is no cure for Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia, a diagnosis can allow individuals to receive care and treatment to help slow the progression.
